Hey everyone, welcome to Developer Tea. My name is Jonathan Cutrell. Today is a very special and a very short episode because it is Thanksgiving and I don't know if you all celebrate Thanksgiving or not. I do, I celebrate it here at home with my family. It is not actually Thanksgiving when I'm recording this by the way. I'm recording it ahead of time but I want to ask you to do something as a favor to me but also as a favor to yourself. Being grateful is such an underrated and important part of our lives and it may not necessarily be a skill that is directly related to programming or to being a developer but I do think that developers often we have a hard time showing gratefulness because so much of what we do is black and white. So much of what we do is in the code. So take a second to text or tweet or share on Facebook or whatever it is that you do. Talk to somebody who you are grateful for. They don't even have to know who you are necessarily. Now there is one rule to this. I do not want you to do that to Developer Tea. That's not the goal of this. I want you to text or tweet somebody who has inspired you, who has helped you or maybe you just admire or appreciate their presence in your life. And I can tell you from firsthand experience that when that person hears how grateful you are for them, it will make a massive positive effect on them. I am grateful for all of you for example. I am incredible. This is why I say thank you so many times at the end of the episodes. It is a genuine appreciation for each and every one of you who listen to this show. It is so exciting to me to be able to discuss these topics with you on Developer Tea. But I want you to know that it's not just about discussing the topics. It's about forming relationships and that is really so much of what we do in our lives. So much of what we do in our careers. So be sure to take a moment today, express that gratitude to the people that you are grateful for. Don't just express it to yourself, but give them a message of gratefulness. And I think that you will appreciate that you did it for them as well. This isn't just for people who celebrate Thanksgiving. This is for everyone. Everyone should be practicing gratefulness. Everyone should be practicing vocalizing that gratefulness. Sometimes it's difficult to share those feelings with people and we have to make an intentional effort to go out of our way and say what we are feeling. Say the things that we care about because again so many times we are thinking in our heads. We're kind of introverted in the ways that we're solving problems and the work that we're doing. So take some time out today and send that message of gratefulness to those people that you're grateful for. Thank you so much again. Thank you so much for listening to Developer Tea. I am grateful for each and every one of you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy your turkey and enjoy your tea.
